In early 2007, four families in the Grand Prairie area did a bold and daring thing---they considered starting a new ministry! The foundation of their effort was based on a single, shared conviction: that God would honor the sincerity and rightfulness of their intentions. "But did He?" you may ask. In unison, we say "Yes!"
Summit Baptist Church now has a beautiful sanctuary in which to worship. Our congregation consists of individuals with Catholic, Methodist, Lutheran, Plymouth Brethren, Presbyterian, and Baptist backgrounds. We reach out to the elderly in our area through a vibrant nursing home ministry. We have a food ministry where our members prepare and take meals to families in crisis. Our men gather bi-monthly to do projects of various kinds for those in our congregation and community. And Summit members volunteer their time and talents to a juvenile delinquent center in Dallas. In sum, we continue to be witnesses to the testimonies of people whose lives have been tangibly and spiritually revitalized because of our work and ministry.
As we peer into the future, we are certain of only one thing: The God who calls us to faith continues calling us into the deeper waters of knowing and serving Him. Our success will be measured in God's time, by His standards, and for His glory.
